I've always maintained that some of the best friends I have in my life are ones that I made in high school. That school was Newburgh Free Academy in Newburgh, New York. Actually, a couple of these good friends I've known since grammar school.

Newburgh was, and still is, a mid-size city on the Hudson River about 60 miles north of New York City. Growing up there in the 1940's and 50's was a wonderful experience in retrospect. Even then we knew it was pretty good.

The NFA Class of 1955 has been very successful in having a reunion every five years. The last one was our 45th in September 2000. Please visit (my best high school buddy) Jack Corwin's web site to view many photographs of that event.

Its at http://www.corwin.org/nfa55/.

The photo below is of Mary Torrens, Darwin, Jack Corwin and Joyce (Gillespie) Walker taken when we all were together for the 45th reunion. Mary Torrens was a favorite South Junior High School teacher and is still active in Newburgh.

I hope these web pages will help in many ways to bring about a very successful 50th reunion in 2005.  It will be held on the weekend of September 16-18.  Contact me directly for details.

At this point there are about 50 members of the Class of 1955 registered at www.Classmates.com. If you're not currently registered, please visit that site and join. That will give the 50th reunion organizers another way to keep in touch with you.
